To Flush or Not to Flush?

To Flush or Not to Flush?! That is the question!

Every day, Renewable Water Resources processes tons of debris that people flush down their toilets, not realizing the impact that this can have on the pump stations, sewer lines, and facility equipment. This is why we are joining with the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) in support of the Toilets are Not Trashcans campaign.

This project is targeted directly at protecting the pipes, pumps, plants, and personnel of wastewater utilities acrossPotty Protocol Website Image the nation by reducing the materials that are inappropriately flushed or drained into the sewer system.  We and other NACWA members will be promoting ways for people to responsibly handle not only diapers and wipes, but other items that get flushed inadvertently.

Remember don’t flush:

  • Diapers and wipes
  • Leftover food grease and oils
  • Unused pharmaceuticals
  • Paper napkins and towels
  • Cosmetics
  • Dental Floss
  • Coffee grounds and egg shells
  • Feminine hygiene products

Remember, protecting our water resources starts with you .…toilet paper is the ONLY thing that should be flushed down the toilet!
